Great
Ideas
Kids all over the country have suggested great ways to raise funds to
sponsor a dog. Many of these ideas are so inventive we’ve
decided to share them with you. Listed below are just a few:
The
Most Successful: The kids at Apollo Jr. High held a “Silent
Auction” where items they collected after writing some 200
letters to businesses and celebrities, were auctioned off. They collected
144 items to auction off and raised over $8,600 in one night!
12
months of CHAMPS: Browne Academy in Alexandria, VA,
is raising money for their own dog who'll be named “Brownie” so
they’ve planned a year-long campaign with a different CHAMPS
event every month.
Chow
Down for CHAMPS Night: Local restaurant or diner can donate a
pecentage of the evenings profits to CHAMPS. Here's a good idea... teachers
can worke as hosts, runners, and bussers!! Now wouldn't you want to go chow
down at that restaurant??!!
CHAMPS
T-Shirt Sale: T-Shirts can be donated by local store. One school
campaign sold 300 in first 2 weeks at $10 each! They're ordering MORE!!!
CHAMPS
Cookbook: collect recipes from CHAMPS kids families and make
a cookbook to sell as the holiday season approaches.
CHAMPS
Awareness Bracelet’s: One state campaign bought silicone/rubber
bracelets just like the “LiveStrong” bracelets that are so popular. Their
project was called “MIRACLE” (Many Individuals Raising Awareness & Clearing
Landmines Everywhere). They ordered 2,000 bracelets in their school
colors (blue and white) and charged $3.00 each or 2 for $5.00. They
all but sold out in three weeks.
MLI ordered 10,000 CHAMPS awareness bracelets, they are in white
and in Blue. We got them for just over .30 cents each. Kids
all over the country are giving them away for gifts for a $2.00 donation
each, their profit margin being $1.70 each. Yeah!!! These
bracelets are available to any school that wants to use them, just <

Dress
Down Day’s: Once a month they can dress down for
a $2.00 donation. They don’t have to pay the $2.00 if
they buy a CHAMPS T-shirt and wear it on the Dress Down Day w/their
Jeans (this includes Teachers)!!
CHAMPS
DANCE: The kids at the D. J. Bakie Elementary
School in Kingston, NH, had a Father/Daughter Dance and raised nearly
$1,000 in ONE NIGHT!
CHAMPS
NIGHT: Several schools around the country are
working with their local Fudruckers and Applebee’s. They
are advertising that 20% of the money collected on the CHAMPS NIGHT
at the restaurant will go toward sponsoring their Mine Detection
Dog. Schools announce it over the loud speakers and advertise
it in their school papers to get a greater turn-out of students and
parents!!! It’s going great!
Saturday
Pancake Breakfast: families from all over the community
can come together for pancakes and some conversation! Local radio
stations and newspapers can donated space to advertise the event.
Local stores can donate the pancake mix, juice and coffee. Accept
donations instead of charging an entrance fee and this campaign idea
can be wonderfully successful.
Penny
War: Have each grade competed in a penny war. First
thing in the morning every class in the school gathers their pennies
together. During the day classes can sabotage other classes
by slipping dollar bills or change (which counts against their pennies)
into other classes collection jars. One school made OVER $1,400 the
first week of their penny war and by the end of the 3rd week raised
over $2900!! No kidding!
K-9
Walk: get a bunch of dogs together for a walk in the park! One
campaign state in MA raised $1,400 in one day!!!
CHAMPS
Presentation: Not only can a bunch of students raise awareness
in their town, they can raise money by doing presentations at Rotary
Clubs and Lions Clubs for matching funds.
Rent-A-Kid: Some
classes in an elementary school brainstormed amongst their classmates
and decided on a list of chores they could do at home, requesting their
parents pay them a quarter (or more) for each chore. Teachers
sent home a note to the parents explaining the project. Many parents
elected to match the money their children earned doing the chores as
a way of supporting both their child and the schools efforts!
PJ
day: a day that kids are allowed to wear their pajama’s
to school (with a robe of course)
