The Marshall Legacy Institute (MLI) is a non-profit, international organization formed in 1997 for charitable, education and humanitarian purposes.

GEN Sullivan with MDD Sully, donated for and named after him by his friends and family!

General (Ret.) Gordon R. Sullivan, the 32nd Chief of Staff of the United States Army, founded the organization in the 50th Anniversary year of the Marshall Plan to extend the vision and legacy of George C. Marshall into the 21st Century.

The Marshall Legacy Institute seeks to restore hope, alleviate suffering, encourage growth, and nurture stability in war-torn countries.

MLI currently focuses on helping severely mine-contaminated countries by providing resources and training to reduce the scourge of landmines.

MLI has provided over 140 landmine detection dogs to Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Eritrea, Iraq,Lebanon, Nicaragua, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

Each nation that has received dogs from MLI has appreciated the value and versatility of the dog teams and has gone on to expand their indigenous programs.  The Humane Society of the United States and the US Department of State are major partners of MLI in the program.
